Sonia Shah talks about her book, The Fever: How Malaria Has Ruled Humankind for 500,000 Years (Sarah Crichton Books/ Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2010). In her book she looks at the 500,000 year history of malaria and questions why a pathogen we know how to control still infects over 500 million people every year and kills nearly 1 million. She responded to questions from members of the audience at Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, D.C.
